Testing with different versions of IE

Now that M$ has come out with IE8 I thought it would nice to remind all three of you, again, of how nice those folks at Redmond are. They've updated their "Internet Explorer Application Compatibility VPC Image" page here and will now let you test how they've implemented the same bugs across different versions of IE.

These are virtual pc images that can be used free of charge until the end of April 2009.

Layoffs hitting closer

Fellow geek Brian Benz just had a difficult post to write. He has been caught by IBM layoffs and has less than a month to find another position at IBM or look for a job elsewhere. So, if anyone out there needs a 20 experienced IT professional with a big bag of tools let him know, you won't regret it.

Undocumented parameter

I'm not really sure this will be useful for any of you but I've just found and undocumented parameter in the refresh method of the notesUIDocument class.

This is what's in the Designer 7 & 8.5 Help:

Defined in
NotesUIDocument

Syntax

Call notesUIDocument.Refresh( [ IncludeRichTextItems ] )

Parameters

IncludeRichTextItems

This is what the type ahead shows:

A picture named M2

If you include that optional parameter the method will also refresh any embedded views or editors in the form.

Thank you IBM for allowing me to learn something everyday.

Get Well 2.0

A couple of days ago friend and fellow blogger Greyhawk68 wrote about how great it was to receive birthday wishes all day from his friends on Facebook and Twitter. He called it Birthday 2.0. On the same day while I was all by myself at the hospital waiting for my wife's surgery to end (seemed like two eternities) I had one of the most amazing demonstrations of friendship. A whole bunch of you who had an eye on twitter at the time never stopped sending me support messages. Some who I've already met in person and others whom I know only from reading blogs and forums over the last 15 years. To all of you who sent encouraging and get well messages thank you for never letting me feel alone, thank you for this Get Well 2.0.

We are now back home and my wife is making a good recovery, it wasn't one of the bad ones.

She says thanks for all the tweets, whatever that means.

Don't spend all your budget on an Nokia E71 just yet

Bookmark : del.icio.us  Technorati  Digg This  Add To Furl  Add To YahooMyWeb  Add To Reddit  Add To NewsVine

A Nokia advertisement video was posted on YouTube showing two new devices. Their apparently working on two new Eseries devices, the E72 which is probably an upgrade to the E71 and the E75 which marks Nokia's foray into the side sliding form factor market. The video has already been pulled from YouTube and several other sites following a request from the manufacturer but you can still read about it and look at some still images taken from the video here.
